About us

Too many cameras!

Digital Camera World (DCW) is the world's favorite camera website, covering every aspect of photography, videography and image-making.

Whether you're an old school DSLR user, you've just bought your first mirrorless camera, you're a vlogger using your phone camera or a videographer moving up to a cinema camera, we bring you daily news, rumors, reviews and recommendations on everything from drones to instant cameras and webcams to analog film cameras.

We've also got a ton of tips and tutorials not just on traditional genres like landscapes, portraits and macro, but also on image editing, video post-production and photo printing – so we're here to support you right the way through your workflow and imaging journey.

Experts like our How To Editor, Mike Harris, don't just spout wisdom from behind a desk – we get our feet wet in the field, literally!

Since 2017, the DCW team has been sharing its passion, knowledge and excitement with our readership around the world. Our staff has almost 200 years of photographic experience between us, and we've tested almost every camera and lens that's been released in the past 8 years (trust us, we have the callouses to prove it!).

In addition to writing for the world’s best-selling photography mags – including Digital Camera Magazine, Australian Camera and ProPhoto – many of us on the team have worked as professional photographers. And like all camera geeks, we're always excited to talk shop and share our advice and opinions with shooters of all experience levels.

Digital Camera World is owned and published by Future Plc, with our sister sites including fellow tech specialists like TechRadar and Tom's Guide.

Meet the Digital Camera World team

James Artaius, Digital Camera World editor
James Artaius

Based in the southwest of England, James has been a journalist for 25 years, a professional photographer for 11 and the head of DCW for 7, before which he wrote for mags like PhotoPlus, Professional Imagemaker and Official Pokémon Magazine (yes, really). His most embarrassing photography moment was being on stage at The Photography Show and unwittingly saying "Lefty loosey…" into a live mic while putting up a light stand during a masterclass.

Hillary K. Grigonis

Hillary heads up DCW's North American desk and brings with her a decade of experience in photography and technology journalism, having written for outlets including Business Insider, Pocket-lint, The Phoblographer and Digital Trends. A professional wedding and portrait photographer, in her spare time she's also an avid outdoorswoman who enjoys hiking, kayaking and camping.

Gareth Bevan headshot
Gareth Bevan

London-based Gareth was working as a freelance photographer and videographer for several years before joining the DCW crew as head reviews honcho. While working on fashion, portrait and lifestyle content creation, Gareth has developed a range of skills covering everything from editorial shoots to social media videos. He's passionate about travel and nature photography, with a devotion to sustainability and environmental causes.

Adam Juniper headshot
Adam Juniper

With over 20 years of expertise as a tech journalist, Adam brings a wealth of knowledge across a vast number of product categories, including timelapse cameras, home security cameras, NVR cameras, photography books, webcams, 3D printers and 3D scanners, borescopes, radar detectors… and, above all, drones. He has been contributing to the site since 2018, and joined the team full-time in 2023. He was previously the publisher of Ilex photography titles at Octopus Books.

Chris George headshot
Chris George

Chris has been working on DCW since the website launched in 2017, and using cameras since the era of manual focus and slide film – when he won the Young Photographer of the Year award (an an Olympus OM-10 camera!). His career covering photography and technology spans over 30 years in both print and digital, during which time he has written for everyone from The Sunday Times Magazine and The Daily Telegraph to T3 and TechRadar.

Kim Bunermann headshot
Kim Bünermann

Formerly Technique Editor at Digital Photographer magazine, Kim has a Master’s degree in Photography and Media. Kim highlights topics that resonate with modern society, including women in photography and critical issues such as environmental conservation. She also discusses and reviews camera gear, and shares her expertise on the latest camera news and rumors, giving you an overview to find the best fit for your photography journey.

Kalum Carter

Kalum is a photographer and writer based in the UK, and for almost a decade he has worked with brands and publications to create, edit and sequence imagery. His photography has been published and exhibited around the world, and he continues to photograph on a project-by-project basis. He is currently working on a personal project capturing the people and landscape of Gower, South Wales, which will be exhibited for the National Trust.

Sebastian Oakley
Sebastian Oakley

Seb came to Digital Camera World from the arena of professional equestrian photography – a field in which he holds a fellowship. A literal expert in his literal field, he has shot for the likes of The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI – "the equestrian equivalent of FIFA," he tells us!). He's an avid Leica shooter and owner, a dedicated 35mm film photographer, and loves high-end cinema kit from the likes of Red and Arri.

Adam Waring mugshot
Adam Waring

Our resident Nikon specialist, Adam joined Digital Camera World after spending seven years as the Editor of N-Photo: The Nikon Magazine. And prior to that, he was a member of the PhotoPlus: The Canon Magazine team – so his knowledge stretches well beyond the Big N! An avid outdoorsman, he's happy photographing everything from landscapes to wildlife, just so long as he has a camera in his hands.

Mike Harris

Mike brings a wealth of experience to the site, having previously served as Deputy Editor of N-Photo: The Nikon Magazine and Production Editor for UK camera retailer Wex Photo Video. He was also a long-tenured Technique Editor for print photography magazines, paving the way for his gift of sharing knowledge on DCW – especially when it comes to fast vehicles, as he's an avid motorsport photographer. He's recently started geeking out over film cameras, too.

Ben Andrews
Ben Andrews

As the lone PC and Android user on a team full of Apple and iPhone heads, Ben is often on the receiving end of a bit of stick. However, he's a technical wizard when it comes to evaluating cameras and phones alike – as the Lab Manager for the company's entire photography department, he even has a white coat! The rest of us can prattle on about how a camera looks and feels, but Ben will tell you how it empirically performs. (Just like an Android user…)

Why trust us?

The Digital Camera World team is made up of professional journalists, lifelong camera enthusiasts, and former and current professional photographers.

It sounds trite, but DCW is written by photographers for photographers – our passion is to share our knowledge and experience with you, and to give you the benefit of our industry expertise, contacts and insights.

Moreover, we practice what we preach and we listen to the advice we give – especially when it comes to buying advice. If we tell you that a camera is great, it's because we've put it through its paces and we believe it delivers what it promises.

We weren't kidding about Ben having a white coat! Our technicians diligently lab test cameras and lenses to evaluate their performance (Image credit: Future)

We put our money where our mouth is, too – members of the team frequently purchase the kit they review. And likewise, if a product or service fails to deliver, we'll tell you that, too.

Everyone knows that cameras are expensive, and our team feels a responsibility to give absolutely honest advice. If you want to know more about our review process you can read all about how we test equipment.

We're not just here to tell you to buy new gear, either. We want to help you get the most out of your older and existing kit. In short, we give you the advice that we believe in and we give our honest opinions on products and developments within the imaging industry.
